Isolation Cages
Foie gras is produced by shoving pipes down the throats of ducks and geese and pumping their stomachs full of enormous quantities of grain and fat. This process causes the birds' livers to become diseased and bloated; the birds are then killed, and their livers are sold as foie gras. Many foie gras factory farms confine ducks and geese to wire isolation cages that are so small that the birds cannot even lift a wing or turn around. |
