Duck Factory Farms
Ducks raised for their flesh are packed into large sheds for their entire short lives. In nature, ducks spend much of their time swimming, but in factory farms, they are given no pools of water to swim in. In such stressful conditions, ducks and geese often develop neuroses, such as pulling out their feathers. Instead of giving the birds better living conditions, many factory farms cut or burn off parts of each duck's bill to discourage feather pulling. |
